Donald Trump just disrespected United States in the Oval Office. It wasn’t Zelensky

It’s time to be clear. The U.S. leadership has shifted its stance in the war. The American people have not— and they need to speak up.
In recent weeks, the U.S. government has shown clear hostility toward Ukraine while aligning its rhetoric and policies with Russia. That hostility reached its peak when President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance berated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office.
After a heated exchange, Zelensky was reportedly ordered out of the White House— the first time in history that a democratic ally, not a dictator or disgraced politician, was kicked out by an American president.
During the meeting, Trump and Vance accused Zelensky of “not being grateful” enough for U.S. aid. Zelensky reminded them he had expressed thanks to the American people multiple times that day. But gratitude wasn’t what Trump and Vance wanted— they wanted submission.
The Ukrainian leader was placed in a no-win situation. If he accepted their accusations without pushback, he would appear weak both at home and abroad— something no wartime leader can afford. Meanwhile, Trump handled public disagreements with French President Emmanuel Macron and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer much differently, simply smiling and shrugging off their corrections to his misleading statements about Europe.
Will Trump and Vance confront Vladimir Putin with the same hostility? By now, we know the answer. If anyone will be bowing in their meeting, it won’t be Putin. Shockingly, Trump even criticized Zelensky for his “hatred” of Putin— the man who invaded his country and killed thousands— suggesting that such feelings would make peace negotiations “tough.”
The dangerous lie about peace
After the meeting, Trump claimed Zelensky didn’t want peace. That is a dangerous lie. There is only one party that can end this war instantly— Russia. Putin could order his troops to withdraw at any moment, but he won’t, because he doesn’t want peace. He wants Ukraine.
Zelensky and Ukraine seek a just peace— one that guarantees security and honors the sacrifices of those who died defending their country. But Trump has made it clear whose side he’s on. Today, he claimed to be “for Ukraine and Russia.” Then, he expelled Ukraine’s delegation from the White House. There’s no ambiguity— Trump is for Russia.
By aligning with a ruthless dictator over a democratic leader, Trump’s administration is actively ensuring Ukraine’s defeat, damaging U.S. alliances, and weakening America on the global stage. The worst part? He’s doing it in the name of millions of Americans who disagree with him.
Trump has chosen his side of history. The American people still have the power to choose theirs.
