DOJ active chief caught on hot mic in leaked video saying every Republican will be redacted from Epstein client list while Democrats remain
A newly released undercover recording has stirred fresh debate surrounding the Department of Justice’s management of the Jeffrey Epstein case. The footage was published by activist James O’Keefe and has quickly fueled controversy.
In the video, DOJ Acting Deputy Chief Joseph Schnitt is allegedly heard saying that Republican names would be redacted from Epstein-related documents, while Democratic names would be left visible.
Schnitt also reportedly discusses Ghislaine Maxwell’s transfer to a lower-security facility, suggesting the move was a “benefit… to keep her mouth shut.”
In response, the Department of Justice dismissed the statements as personal remarks, stressing that Schnitt’s views do not represent official policy. The DOJ highlighted that all redactions follow standard legal protocols regarding sensitive information.
This development comes as the department faces ongoing criticism for its handling of Epstein records. Just recently, the House Oversight Committee released more than 30,000 pages of Epstein-related files, many of which were already part of the public record.
