‘Trump has only 6–8 months to live’: Viral video fuels health rumors as claims of heart failure and kidney disease spread

A viral Reddit post has been making waves online, claiming that a doctor predicted former President Donald Trump has only six to eight months left to live, citing congestive heart failure (CHF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The video spread rapidly across social platforms, drawing huge attention and sparking heated debate. But shortly after, users discovered that the man in the video was not a licensed medical doctor at all, but a physical therapist. This revelation has raised serious questions about the credibility of the claims surrounding Trump’s health.

According to several Reddit users who saw the unedited clip, the speaker clearly stated his actual profession in the introduction. However, edited versions of the video circulating online removed that context, misleading viewers into thinking the claims were coming from a medical doctor.

Adding fuel to the speculation, a TikTok rumor falsely claimed that Trump had only “four days to live.” That baseless claim quickly spread before fact-checkers dismissed it. The White House recently confirmed that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a vascular condition that can cause swelling in the legs. His physician described it as “benign and common,” especially among older adults, and insisted that Trump remains in stable health despite the online chatter.

Still, the video and subsequent rumors provoked a wave of reactions online. One user mocked the claim, writing: “That’s too long.” Another added: “The celebrations should be loud enough to wake all but the dead.” Others speculated about Trump’s chances of undergoing treatment, with one noting: “Dialysis, yes – transplant, 🤷🏼‍♂️. Fully understand that he is POTUS, but most transplants aren’t done past 70ish. And, he’s in terrible health anyway. So….”

The speculation grew further when a photo of Trump with a patch on his hand began circulating on Reddit and X, sparking theories about “congestive heart failure.” Critics argue that the frenzy is fueled more by misinformation than medical fact, pointing out that online rumors often distort or exaggerate real conditions.

So what do we know for certain? Trump’s official diagnosis is chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) — a condition that occurs when veins in the legs or arms are too weak or damaged to circulate blood efficiently. Instead of flowing back to the heart, blood can pool in the veins, leading to swelling, discomfort, and in severe cases, ulcers or even tissue damage. The condition does not automatically mean heart failure, though in some cases, it can raise concerns about cardiovascular strain.

For now, Trump’s medical team has offered no indication of life-threatening illness. Officials maintain he is being monitored closely, but rumors of an imminent decline — whether six months or four days — appear to be misinformation amplified through social media edits and speculation.
