Candidate running for California governor threatens to deport immigrants unless they agree to marry American incels

In a jaw-dropping moment that’s managed to offend just about everyone, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Kyle Langford has unveiled a bizarre and deeply troubling immigration proposal: require migrant women to marry American “incels” in exchange for residency. Yes, you read that right.
The idea first surfaced during Langford’s appearance on The Lilly Show, where he shared his thoughts in a now-viral interview clip.

“We know where you are. If you marry one of our Californian incels, then you can stay. But if you don’t, then, well, they’re getting sent back across,” he said.
Langford, whose platform seems inspired more by 4chan threads than any actual governing principles, is campaigning to turn California into “the most Catholic place in the world” — a statement that suggests he’s either unfamiliar with Vatican City or simply not concerned with reality. And while he claims religious motivation, there’s nothing in scripture that supports coercing vulnerable immigrant women into relationships with men who idolize misogynists like Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes.
Unsurprisingly, this proposal has been slammed across the political spectrum for its grotesque implications. Critics say it dehumanizes migrant women, ignores consent entirely, and reeks of authoritarianism. Essentially, it weaponizes marriage as a policy tool — reducing women to bargaining chips in an unhinged immigration scheme.
Legal scholars are raising red flags too. Forced marriage is a direct violation of human rights and runs counter to multiple U.S. laws protecting individuals from coercion and trafficking. If Langford were ever in a position to implement such a policy — which, thankfully, he isn’t — it would be tied up in court faster than you can say “constitutional crisis.”
Langford’s entire campaign reads like a fever dream cooked up by alt-right influencers, and this latest proposal only reinforces that. Suggesting that the key to immigration reform is matching vulnerable women with socially isolated men isn’t just absurd — it’s dangerous.
The backlash has been swift, and for good reason. While Langford tries to pass off this idea as some sort of twisted matchmaking service, most Americans can see it for what it is: an insult to human dignity and a glaring reminder of how far-right extremism has infected modern conservative politics.
In another interview, flagged by Right Wing Watch, Langford doubled down on his incel-marriage fantasy — a moment that should disqualify him in any rational democracy. That is, if he had any legitimate support in the first place.
